Even though I survived near-death experiences and witnessed my city being destroyed before my eyes, I have never backed down from my duty—because journalism is not just a profession; it is a responsibility and a trust before the world and history. From the heart of Gaza, I write to you today: A journalist is not neutral in the face of pain—but a witness who does not lie. #worldpressfreedomday

10:11 PM @amr.tabash محمد معمر (10 سنوات).. كان يركض ويحلم مثل أي طفل، قبل أن تصيبه شظايا صاروخ إسرائيلي في رأسه داخل خيام النزوح.. فقد بصره، وأصيب بشلل نصفي.. محمد اليوم عاجز، لكن قلبه ما زال ينبض بالأمل.. يحتاج علاجًا عاجلًا في الخارج.. أنقذوا ما تبقى من طفولته قبل فوات الأوان. Mohammed Moamer (10 years old)… He used to run and dream like any other child, until shrapnel from an Israeli missile struck his head inside a displacement camp. He lost his sight and was left partially paralyzed. Today, Mohammed is disabled, but his heart still beats with hope. He urgently needs treatment abroad. Save what remains of his childhood before it’s too late.

Alaa was no ordinary person he was a brother, a shadow, the laughter that eased life’s weight. The occupation’s bullet took his body, but his presence remains in every corner, every photo, every silent moment where I long for his voice. Alaa didn’t die — he lives on in us, and in a memory that will never fade.

In places like Gaza, Syria, Yemen, and beyond, journalism isn’t just a career it’s a dangerous responsibility. Today, we’re raising our voices not just to ask for freedom, but to break the silence around the targeting of journalists. We don’t need fancy slogans. We need protection. We don’t need more statements of support. We need real action to stop the killing, arrests, and silencing of the press. More than 210 journalists have been killed in Gaza City alone simply for carrying a camera and reporting the truth. Dozens more have been critically injured while performing their duties and have been denied their right to receive medical treatment both inside and outside Gaza. On Press Freedom Day, the Palestinian journalist pays the highest price to deliver the voice and the image to the world, while foreign journalists are barred from entering the Gaza Strip, keeping the truth hidden from the world’s eyes. A journalist should never be a target simply for being a journalist, yet they and their families are targeted because of the camera. Samar #worldpressfreedomday

4:40 PM @nooh.xp في اللحظة التي كنّا فيها، أنا و هاني، نضع اللمسات الأخيرة على مناشدة إنسانية لنمنح لين فرصة للسفر والعلاج خارج قطاع غزة جاءنا الخبر الذي مزق القلوب: استُشهدت لين. توقفت الكلمات، وضاعت الآمال في لحظة واحدة، لين التي كانت تحلم فقط بالعلاج غادرتنا بصمت، تماماً كما غادرت عائلتها تحت الركام. رحلت قبل أن ترى نور الأمل، لكنها ستبقى شاهدة على ظلمٍ لم يرحم الطفولة ولا الضعف.💔 @nooh.xp At the very moment when Hani and I were putting the final touches on a humanitarian appeal to give Lin a chance to travel and receive treatment outside the Gaza Strip, we received the heartbreaking news: Leen was martyred. Words failed us, and all hope vanished in an instant. Leen, who only dreamed of getting treatment, left us in silence — just as her family did, beneath the rubble. 1:41 PM @amr.tabash حتى في أماكن تجمع النفايات، لم يجد أطفال غزة بقايا طعام تسد رمق جوعهم، بعد أن اشتد شبح المجاعة وأحكم قبضته على كل بيت وكل جسد. هل رأيتم إلى أي حال وصلنا؟ حتى النفايات أصبحت خالية من الفتات، والوضع بات كارثيًا بكل ما تحمله الكلمة من وجع.. الكبار قبل الصغار باتوا يعانون من سوء التغذية، وأعداد الوفيات تتزايد يومًا بعد يوم بصمت موجع. إنها واحدة من أصعب المراحل التي نمر بها، مرحلة تنطفئ فيها الأرواح قبل الأجساد، ويصبح فيها طموح الطفل أن يجد طعامه في كومة قمامة.. لا علاج، لا طعام، لا مياه.. كل شيء نفد في غزة.. أنقذوا ما تبقى من حياة قبل أن يتحوّل الجوع إلى موتٍ جماعي صامت.

11:13 AM @amr.tabash حتى الفرح يُغتال في غزة… في غزة، لا يُسمح للفرح أن يكتمل. علاء أبو العنين وهالة زعرب، عريس وعروس، لم يمر على زفافهما سوى يومٍ واحد، قبل أن يُستشهدا فجرًا، وتُدفن معهما الأحلام التي نسجاها معًا. وفي ركن آخر من المدينة، كانت هبة عساف تستعد لعرسها، تنام بقلب مملوء بالأمل، لتستيقظ السماء على خبر استشهادها في قصف إسرائيلي وهي بين أهلها، حاملة معها حلمًا لم يتحقق، وبهجةً خُطفت قبل أن تولد. هكذا يُقتل المستقبل في غزة… وهكذا يُكتب الوداع بدلًا من الزفاف Even joy is slain in Gaza… In Gaza, happiness is short-lived — if it’s ever allowed at all. Alaa Abu Al-’Anin and Hala Zorob were newlyweds, married just one day before they were killed at dawn in an Israeli airstrike. Their dreams, their shared future, were buried with them. Elsewhere in the city, Hiba Assaf was asleep beside her family, counting down the days to her wedding. She never made it. An Israeli missile ended her life in her sleep, shattering her family’s world and robbing her fiancé of a life they were about to begin together. In Gaza, the future is bombed before it begins. Farewells come before weddings.
