2:12 PM @hindkhoudary Dear habibi,
Last year on your birthday I bought you your favorite sweets from the store that sells crepes and waffles because you loved them more than chocolate cakes.
We had a little tiny birthday, just me and you with Simba and Nala.
We never thought that this year will bring all of this to us.
We were in our little home in Istanbul, never thought we would have the courage to decide to go back to Gaza.
(Or I never thought you’d approve going back home)
In July, we decided to settle back in Gaza. We shipped everything we own in our house all the way from Istanbul to Gaza.
I was the stubborn head that was crying all day all night to convince you to come back to Gaza with me.
We were hoping a beautiful life, where would live in Gaza peacefully along with our two beloved families and our small cafe.
I was crying to go back to Gaza because I missed the sea, our house, the streets everything.
I never thought I would go back to goodbye Gaza.
Two months after we came all of this happened.
We found ourselves separated and displaced.
Both of our families houses were bombed, the cafe was also scraped by Israeli tanks.
We were still looking for a flat, to create a beautiful home just like the one we had in Istanbul.
I am sad we did not spend alot of time together before the war.
I am sorry for always being a stubborn head.
I love you and miss you so much.
Happy Birthday habibi.
My only wish right now is to hug you and see you.
It is your birthday today and I can’t even hear your voice or see you because of the telecommunications blackout.
I can barely text you.
You’ve always been my unwavering supporter, believing in me, my passion, and dreams.
I am sorry I did not evacuate with you, I know you wanted me to come to the Philippines with you but I am sorry I felt that I can’t leave Gaza alone.
I know you understand why I did not evacuate.
I am sorry I am can’t bring you a gift this year - I’ll bring you one when all of this ends I promise.
Happy 30th birthday habibi.
بحبك كتير و اشتقتلك.
Distance and occupation won’t ever separate us♥️
Your only Habibti,
Hind ☀️♥️
