سما وشقيقها الذي يكبر عنها بعدة سنوات تعيل والديها لأنهما كبار السن ووالدتها لا تستطيع الحركة نتيجة الجلطة الدماغية، حيث انها تحتاج الى علاج تجميلي الى وجهها بعد الاصابة.

The 12-year-old girl, Sama Al-Thalathini, was injured in her face and other parts of her body as a result of an Israeli bombing of a house to which she and her family had fled in Khan Younis. She lost two brothers, one of whom was the journalist Mohammed and his family, while her mother was injured in addition to a stroke after learning of the death of her children.
Sama and her brother, who is several years older than her, support their elderly parents, and her mother is unable to move as a result of the stroke, as she needs cosmetic treatment for her face after the injury.
