9:25 PM @wahaj_bani_moufleh The Najjar Family in Beita: Iron Walls and Resistance Against Settlers In the village of Beita, located at the foot of Mount Sbeih, Mohammad Najjar found himself compelled to build a wall of iron sheets around his home to protect his family from the repeated attacks carried out by settlers from the illegal settlement of “Avitar” perched atop the mountain. Mohammad, gazing at the wall that now surrounds his home, said, “I never imagined that one day I would have to build a prison to protect myself and my family. The settlers have broken our property, vandalized our house, and even stole the livestock we rely on for our livelihood.” The attacks on the Najjar family are not isolated incidents, as the entire village suffers from continuous assaults by the settlers. Mohammad and his family live under the constant threat, but like the rest of Beita’s residents, they refuse to abandon their land. “We are here, steadfast, and we will not leave our home or our land no matter the circumstances.” Beita has made great sacrifices in its defense of the mountain and the land. The village has mourned 19 martyrs who fell in confrontations with settlers, including a foreign activist who stood in solidarity with the villagers in their resistance against settlement expansion. These sacrifices have become a symbol of the steadfastness and determination to protect the land from ongoing settlement attempts. Although Mohammad himself does not participate in setting the tires ablaze—an act the youth of the village have adopted as part of their popular resistance—he deeply appreciates their significant role in defending the land. The entire village stands united against the settlers, with each person playing their part in safeguarding Beita and its mountains from being seized. In conclusion the story of Mohammad Najjar and his family in Beita serves as a living example of Palestinian resilience in the face of illegal settlements. Between the iron walls and the voices of the youth defending their land, the daily struggle for survival and the preservation of rights continues.
