1:37 PM @eid_yara This is Dr Areej. She is my 25 year old cousin. Areej was a dentist. She was also a bride. Her wedding was supposed to be this month. I called her two weeks ago just before the agression started and told her to delay her wedding so I can attend. Her fiancé is Egyptian and they prepared everything for their new home. They even bought the cutlery they’re gonna use. Areej was a close friend to many people. Her childhood best friend Balsam described her as not only being a friend or a sister but a part of who she physically was. Areej is not a number. She loved life so much and she was so excited for her wedding. She was the person who used to take care of the whole family, mostly her nieces. She literally raised so many children in her home. She loved children and was always talking about having her own. Areej dreamt of opening her own clinic. She loved being a dentist so much she even inspired two of her nieces to be on the same path. Areej was a dreamer. She dreamt of travelling the world, of reuniting with her brother who she hasn’t seen in years. Areej was so kind, she helped every single person in her life in some way or another. She impacted the lives of those around her. She was very social and radiating energy. Areej texted her fiancé at the beginning of the agression a picture of her in her wedding dress and she said, I might not be able to wear it again. Areej’s last post on FB said « heaven is closer than Sinai » when many Israeli politicians and spokesmen explained the goal is to expel Palestinians in Gaza. She loved Gaza so much. Areej was killed on Tuesday. She was trying to comfort her terrified nieces. Areej was killed with 15 members of her immediate family. Both her parents, her brother Ahmed and his two daughters, her brother Haitham, his wife and his five children, her other sister in law and her two nieces. The youngest child was 5 years old. 9 out of the 15 killed are children. Areej was not a militant, Areej was a doctor and a civilian. A sister, a best friend, a cousin and a bride. This is a glimpse Areej’s story. Only 1 out of the 30 members of my family that have been killed. Every single one of them had a life and a story!!
